about

Prior to Mechanical Cabaret, I was also half of 'Cybergoth' (allegedly) duo Nekromantik together with Martin White from 1995 until 1998. We only released one album and an EP, but played many live shows, and this is a recording I discovered I had, made on cassette-tape, from a show we played at Full Moon in Bristol in 1998. It's mainly from the mixing desk but there was some kind of room mic situation too (I think!). I remember it pretty well, it was a very enjoyable gig, and captures us at the 'peak' of our 'powers', so to speak. The recording begins a third of the way through Shift The Fulcrum, unfortunately, which is why it's listed as only an 'excerpt' from that song. I Mastered it all, very slightly, to give it enough presence and volume, but didn't digitally remove the slight amount of 'tape-hiss' from it, as people often do, because I find that when you do that it kind of ruins the fidelity of the recording, and takes something away from the atmosphere of it all.

Martin has designed a groovy cover for it too, based on our old 'Nekrophile' cut-up style fanzines he used to make for us!

Anyway, hope you enjoy it. X Roi
