Interesting Times by Mechanical Cabaret

Despite the terrorist attacks and bleating populists
From the Man on the High Street to backwards right-wing politics
Reality Television, refugees refused
Vacuous celebrities, Human rights abused

There’s no end of things to discombobulate our minds
But you can’t deny we live in interesting times

The Doomsday Clock’s near midnight so its creators say
And our Data isn’t safe from the snooping NSA
The manipulated Media spreads mass disinformation
Not even Jim’ll Fix It could stop Brexit split the nation

There’s no end of things with which to flabbergast our minds
But you must admit we live in interesting times

We’ve got contactless transactions and Ebooks on our phones
Electric cars and Uber Taxis to get us home
Everyone’s connected via portable devices
Vlogging, blogging, shopping, sharing thoughts, comparing prices
And now polyamorous affairs are no longer inviolate
We have transexual weddings and gender-neutral toilets
You can end your loneliness with a humanoid sex robot
And look for extraterrestrial love via Elon’s Spaceport

There’s no end of things to illuminate our lives
I really have to say we live in interesting times
There’s no end of things with which to flabbergast our minds
But you must admit we live in interesting times
I really have to say we live in
Interesting Times
